Picture Lady Picture Lady is a wonderful program that began in
the The Picture Lady (or Ladies) selects the artist or
style of art they wish to present to the students early in the school
year. The presenter researches the artist and puts together a simple verbal
presentation for the students along with art samples to view. These
presentations usually include 15 minutes of teaching about the artist/style
and 15 minutes for a related craft or activity as chosen by the
presenter. These presentations usually take place 4 different times
during the school year as selected by the principal and approved by the
teachers. Some of the artist or art styles that were
introduced during the past few years were: Mary Cassatt, Vincent
Van Gogh, Pop Art, George Seurat, Origami, Claude Monet, Dr. Seuss, Jim
Henson, Charles Schultz, optical
illusions, Henri Mattise, Claude Monet, Walt
Disney and "How to view a
painting." If you'd like to see a comprehensive list of sessions that
have been done, contact the current Picture Lady Chair. The students very much enjoy and look forward to
Picture Lady each session. Being involved in Picture Lady is a lot of fun.
It's "hands on" and inspirational to witness the student's
enthusiasm and creativity exhibited by their own little
pieces of art that they create as a result of this program. Currently, Thanks so much for your support, Christy Hooper hoopdesign@mac.com
