The Gene Baby project’s goal is to have students understand how traits are inherited. This is accomplished through having students “inherit” a set of genes from a “mother” and “father”. These genes then determine the genotype, or gene pair, and the phenotype, or characteristic that the child inherits. The students take this information and create a child with the assigned traits. Materials used are modified to make the necessary traits on the gene baby. The seventh graders did a wonderful and creative job making their gene babies with the assigned traits.

The
third annual LBMS Library Coffeehouse was an all day event on Wednesday,
Dec. 20. Students and staff alike enjoyed drinking flavored coffee and
hot chocolate, eating brownies and cookies, playing chess and checkers,
karaoke and socializing with friends. This coffeehouse is the library's
one fundraiser--it is our Scholastic Book Fair. Last year money
made from the coffeehouse was used to purchase Inspiration software and
headphones for library computers. A big "thank you" to McDonald's for
donating the coffee cups and lids for this event. This event would not
have been possible without the help of PTA. Parents in charge
were Mrs. Duffy and Mrs.
Milowicki. Many thanks to all of the parents who helped out that day

8th Grade Team White Tavern Team White students traveled back in time to Gadsby’s Tavern, December 24th, 1783. There was a spontaneous victory celebration when General George Washington stopped on his way home to Mount Vernon. Students stayed in character while dancing and relating their realistically creative stories. Many American History and Language Arts standards were met while hardworking students had fun. Every one of those characters thanks Ms.Fo and Mr. Hocevar for the gorgeous ambiance in room 123. Photo gallery Movie 1 Movie 2 Movie 3 Movie 4

8th Grade Red October The 8th grade RED team had its "Hunt for RED October" team building event recently. We buried trite and cliche words at our word funeral, in which overused vocabulary was put to eternal rest. We also had a variety of activities, such as a hot dog lunch, scavenger hunt, relay races, tug of war, and big- ball- rugby. A fun time was had by all, and the team drew a little closer on that cold, wettish day! |
