Mrs. Shea’s Weekly Assignments

· Vocabulary

Each MONDAY 10 new vocabulary words will be given to you on paper and reviewed as a class. The paper should be put directly into your Language Arts binder under the correct heading, in that same section you will be responsible for doing the nightly activities listed for that week and COMPLETED for THURSDAY. These activities will be graded for completion, worth 8 points. Each FRIDAY, you will have a quiz over these words, worth 10 points.

· Daily Language

Each MONDAY you will be given daily language practice papers for the entire week. These papers should be put directly into your Language Arts binder under the correct heading. You will be responsible for having the entire week completed for FRIDAY, and will be graded on completion (most weeks) for 12 points. However, on certain “surprise” weeks I will collect the Daily Language papers and grade them for accuracy, worth 25 points.

· Journals

Each MONDAY you will be given weekly journals that are to be completed in your composition notebook. You will be responsible for cutting out each day and gluing it to the top of the page and responding below the prompt. These will be graded each FRIDAY for completion. The journal is your place to freely write and not concentrate as much on spelling and grammar, although I do think it is important.

v It is important to learn to manage your time, if you wait until the end of the week to work on all of these assignments you will have a lot to do. However, if you work on them each night, you will realize it is fairly easy to manage. REMEMBER that although you have a daily language page and a journal for Friday, they are still to be done for homework Thursday night and are due Friday!
