EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY:
VOCABULARY TREE
In an effort to
prepare students for the OGT, SAT, ACT and any other standardized test, I
am offering an extra credit opportunity.
Each week we will study one Latin or Greek word part. If a student finds a word that contains that word
part in any reading material*,
he/she is to bring that material to me, define the word, hang the word
and its definition on the vocabulary tree in the classroom, and the
student will receive 2 extra credit points. Students
are allowed a maximum of five words per quarter. Each week the word part will change, so
check the website frequently. This
week’s word part is
demo: people.
* Internet sources are not
eligible for extra credit. It is
too easy for a student to search for the word part, print out a page and
not actually read. The goal of this
extra credit is two-fold; students learn the definition of a word part
and words that contain that word part, and they are being active readers.
