WORKS CITED EXAMPLES
Below are examples of entries taken from the Westlake Style Manual.
Here are a few general rules:
q Center the title Works Cited
one inch from the top. Don’t underline,
bold, or change the font or size of the title Works Cited.
q Begin each entry flush with
the left margin. If the entry runs more
than one line, indent additional
lines five spaces.
q Single-space between words
and after punctuation marks in a works cited entry.
q List each entry
alphabetically by the author’s last name.
If there is no author, use the first word of the title (Ignore A, An,
The).
q Dates are in the order of
day month year, i.e.: 24 Aug. 1994 (note no commas!)
q
All months in dates are abbreviated with the exceptions of May, June,
and July.
q Your last name and page number
appears ˝” from the top in the right corner of all pages (including the first
page and Works Cited)

Note the following:
ü The
entries are alphabetically arranged by the author’s last name or the first word
of the entry (ignore a, an, the).
(AIDS, Bailey, ESPN, Gibbs, Monk)
ü Double
space between all lines on the page of works cited.
ü The
first line of each entry is flush with the left margin.
ü If
the entry runs more than one line, indent additional lines five spaces (or tab
once if you can’t use space bar).
ü Each
entry ends with a period.
ü One
space after punctuation in the entry
ü Dates
are in the order of: day month
year
ü Font
is Times New Roman and size of font is 12 for entire page.
ü Your
last name and page number are in the upper right hand corner.
