The following is a guide to help you begin locating resources for your  space contract activity.
These are places to begin; they are not intended to be all-inclusive.

Under each activity will be a list of books, URL’s, and on-line resources to get you started.    All books are in the Burneson Library on reserve, which means they are in the library for use during the day and can be checked out overnight.

3.     Questions you would ask beings from another planet:

 

Assignment Requirements:

 

1.     The activity needs must be video-taped incorporating both background information on the planet that the beings reside on, and specific questions for the beings.

2.     This activity involves providing background information on the planet (one in our Solar System) that the ‘beings’ reside on.

3.     Background information:

a.      Name of planet

b.     Size of planet

c.     Location of planet

d.     Weather on planet

e.      Moons associated with that planet

f.       Mineral or gas make-up of that planet

g.     Age of the planet

4.     Minimum of 25 questions involving all aspects of ‘life’. Parallel the questions to aspects of life for humans on Earth.

5.    Myths that relate to the stars:

 

Assignment Requirements:

 

1.     Compile a binder of myths and stories that relate to the stars.

2.     Read the myths and stories.

3.     After each story or myth write a summary paragraph as to what the story or myth is telling the reader.

4.     On a separate paper list the facts found in the myths and stories that are accurate to the study of astronomy.

5.     The binder needs the following items:

a.      Cover page with your name date period and title of the binder

b.     A picture on the cover page.

c.     Table of Contents.

d.     Pages numbered.

e.      Four colored pictures placed throughout the binder.

6.    TV Newscast from Mars or any  other planet:

 

Assignment Requirements:

 

1.      The Newscast will be live.

2.      You represent the main anchor for the newscast

3.      You decide on three stories to cover during your newscast
