Westlake Council of PTAs

Welcome to the Westlake Council of PTAs!

My name is Lola Wenham and I am honored to serve as the Westlake Council of PTAs President for the 2023-2024 academic year. Since 2010, I have been a member of the PTA. I am a proud parent of a freshman and 5th grader in the Westlake City School District! I look forward to a year of achieving our mission and goals for all students with and through our partnerships with the district administration, membership, volunteers and community partners. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me (wcptapres44145@gmail.com) or any member of the board.

WHO WE ARE: The Westlake Council of Parent and Teacher Associations (WCPTA) of Westlake, Ohio is a volunteer umbrella organization supporting five unit PTAs within the city and the Westlake City School District. WCPTA is affiliated with the National Parent Teacher Association, the oldest and largest association devoted to child advocacy in America.

MISSION: To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

VOLUNTEERS: Giving over 1400 hours of service last year, our diverse and dynamic group of volunteers is composed of parents, teachers, school staff, grandparents, and other families members, who share a commitment to collaborate with school staff/administration and community partners to improve the education, health and safety of all children.

GOALS: To be a powerful voice for all children, a reliable resource for families and communities and strong advocate for the education and well being of every child.

PROGRAMS, SERVICES & EVENTS: While supporting programs, services and events of five unit PTAs, WCPTA is able to support its own programs, services and events through various fundraising events like Dollars for Scholars, flower/plant sales and direct donations. WCPTA programs, services and events vary from year to year but include a K-6 fun social, Founders’ Day, garden program activities at each school, the Westlake Educational Foundation grant program, the Hidden In Plain Sight program (a drug awareness program), “Fill The Bus” Food and Toiletry Drive, Reflections (national arts program) and up to ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors each year.

MEMBERSHIP: Benefits of membership are endless! It is truly what you make of it. At its foundation, all members get the opportunity to connect with other families and school staff, and really get to know what is going on in the school community while building rapport and discussing issues directly with the change makers. Membership won’t give you any extra to-dos. What it does give you, however, is voting rights, which shape the direction of programming, services, and events supported by the PTA.
