Westlake Elementary PTA

Welcome Westlake Elementary School Parents, Families and Guardians!

My name is Lola Wenham, and I am proud to serve as the Westlake Elementary School PTA President for the 2020-2021 academic year. On behalf of the WES PTA, I want to welcome returning families, as well as new ones, to what promises to be a unique and exciting school year.

Westlake Elementary School is made up of an extraordinary group of active parents, guardians, teachers, staff and community sponsors that create an incredible community for our children, helping them grow into life-long learners and resilient decision makers. As part of that community and in partnership with the Westlake City School District, the WES PTA is a powerful voice for every student. We are a resource for families, providing programs, events and community services, as well as acting as a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.

The question on our minds, and certainly yours, is, how will COVID-19 impact this school year? While I’m not sure how things will unfold, I do know that now more than ever the WES PTA is committed to being a trusted and reliable resource for our children and families. We will have to be extraordinarily creative in building community this year, and we’re looking forward to working with our members and community partners to create fun and engaging ways to support our kids.

How can you step up to help this year?

1) Become a WES PTA member. The WES PTA exists because of the energy, passion and dedication of our MEMBERS, and we’d love to count you among them. No experience necessary, and membership won’t give you any extra to-dos. What it does give you, however, is voting rights, which shape the direction of programming and your PTA dollars. You also obtain member benefits through National PTA. {Membership sign-up link coming soon!}.

2) Make a direct donation. Every dollar counts, and the financial need of our community will be even greater this year. {Direct donation link coming soon!}

3) Attend WES PTA membership meetings. Be a part of the conversation that impacts our children. In addition to the full executive board, teachers and parents, at least one principal attends each meeting to take your questions or comments. For the fall semester, you can attend WES PTA membership meetings from the comfort of your own home. Meeting links will be sent in our weekly eblasts. Click here for a complete list of meeting dates and times.

4) Volunteer! Whether it is a few minutes, an hour or even more, the WES PTA needs your help to make our programs and events happen. Contact one of our Volunteer Engagement Chairs, Kate Bir ( or Amanda Owsley ( to find out how you can help.

5) Join us on Social Media. We interact with our members and share helpful information on our Facebook and Twitter accounts, and we’d love to include you in the conversation.

While there certainly are unknowns for this school year, I am optimistic that together we can make it an enjoyable and fulfilling year for our children. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any member of the executive board.

Let’s have a great year!
