Bullying prevention

The role of our school social worker is to work alongside our counseling staff to provide additional social, emotional, and mental health support for students. Our school social worker has the ability to provide a variety of services and support, including but not limited to, providing one on one support to students, consulting with families, and linking students/families with outside services and resources as necessary. The services provided are designed to increase support that will ultimately empower students to feel successful in various aspects of life.

WHS has a prevention counselor from New Directions once a week to meet with students about…

• The impact of substance use both on the adolescent, their relationships, and values
• The strategies that can enhance the adolescent’s ability to master developmental tasks.
• The importance of education for young people in early recovery.
• The ability that a young person has in coping with social / emotional issues as sobriety is maintained.
