Dollars for Scholars
Seniors vs. Staff Basketball Game

Since 1968, Westlake Council of PTAs has continued the proud tradition of awarding scholarships to deserving Westlake High School (WHS) seniors who plan to pursue higher education at a college, university, or technical school. Scholarships are awarded for traditional academic pursuits, as well as for the arts, STEM/technology and a life challenge. The Westlake Council and its eight member PTAs fundraise for these scholarships in many ways, including programming, membership drives, and the annual Dollar$ for Scholars event.
The annual Dollars for Scholars Seniors v. Staff Basketball Game, benefiting Westlake Council of PTAs scholarship fund for graduating WHS students will be held on March 18, 2022 at 6PM at the WHS Rotunda & Main Gym.
Founders' Day
Founders’ Day Dinner & Awards
Each February, PTA units across the country celebrate the founding of PTA over 100 years ago, and honor the contributions of those who enrich our students' experiences and are dedicated to the PTA mission. Westlake Council's Founders' Day event recognizes the many people who contribute to making a difference for our students and schools in Westlake by presenting three types of awards, all of which are decided based on nominations from the schools and PTA community.
Each of our 6 PTA units chooses one honoree to receive the Ohio PTA Achievement Award at the Founders' Day dinner. The Ohio PTA Achievement Award is the highest honor a PTA can bestow on an individual and is awarded to someone who has given outstanding service to our children either at school or within the Westlake community.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 17, 2022 for an evening of inspiration and celebration.
The recipients of Westlake's 2020 Ohio PTA Achievement Awards are:
- Westlake Early Childhood PTA:
- Westlake Elementary PTA:
- Dover Intermediate School PTA:
- Lee Burneson Middle School PTA:
- Westlake High School PTSA:
- Westlake Council of PTAs:
- Helping Hands:
- Outstanding District Educator:

The recipient of this award promotes the welfare of children and youth in home, school and community. One award is given from Westlake Council of PTAs, representing all Westlake PTA units.
The final recognition, the Outstanding District Educator Award, is presented to a certified educator for his/her active support in PTA, promoting parent/teacher cooperation in the education of children and youth, and outstanding service as an educator. Reflections
Founded in 1969, the National PTA Reflections program engages nearly 300,000 students and their families in arts education activities each year—encouraging students to explore the arts for fun and recognition. PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities have the opportunity to compete in a contest format at the PTA district and state levels. Participation and appreciation for the arts is the program’s primary goal.
