Our School District’s Journey Toward Purple Star Recognition
The Westlake City School District proudly supports the brave individuals serving in the Armed Forces and their families. As part of this commitment, the district is actively pursuing the prestigious Purple Star Designation from the Ohio Department of Education, which recognizes schools dedicated to supporting military-connected students and their families.
This initiative reflects the district’s mission to provide military families with the resources and support they need to thrive. By working toward the Purple Star designation, Westlake aims to foster an inclusive and understanding environment that addresses the unique challenges faced by military-connected youth, ensuring they feel valued and empowered.
To achieve this honor, Westlake City Schools is meeting the rigorous criteria set by the Purple Star Advisory Board. These requirements include:
- Appointing a Military Liaison to assist with smooth transitions for military families.
- Providing access to tailored resources and programs.
Westlake remains committed to earning this recognition and enhancing the experience of military-connected families in the community. For more information, military families are encouraged to contact Westlake City School District’s Military Liaison, Catherine Eason, at 440-835-6303 or easonc@wlake.org.
By pursuing this honor, Westlake City Schools demonstrates its unwavering dedication to supporting all students and their families.
